Biography of Umaru Musa Yaradua
Umar Musa Yar'Adua was born on August 16, 1951 in the northern city
of Katsina . His father was the first minister of Lagos in the
first republic, and before his death he was the wife of Katsina,
succeeded by the late Umaru Musa Yar'Adua.The deceased started
Rafukka Primary School in 1958 before being transferred to Dutsinma
Primary School in 1962. He attended Keffi Government College from
1965 to 1969. He then went to Barewa College in 1971, where he
received his HSC.Former President Yar'Adua attended Ahmadu Bello
University in Zaria from 1972 to 1978 where he obtained a degree in
Comparative Chemistry or Chemistry , before returning to pursue a
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry.
The deceased served in Lagos State where he taught at Holy Trinity
School from 1975-1976. After serving in the national service, he
began his career as a full-time undergraduate at the University of
CAST, Zaria between 1976 and 1979. In 1983, the late Malam Umaru
Musa Yar'adua resigned from the faculty of Malanta. He started
working at Sambo Farms in Funtua, Katsina, where he was GM from
1983-1989. Since 1984, after the military coup ousted Umaru Musa
Yar'adua, he was called to serve as a trustee of a number of private
corporations and government agencies including the Katsina State
Agricultural and Technical College, the Bank. Habib, Hamada Carpets,
Madara Limited, and The Nation publisher and publisher of the late
General Shehu Musa Yar'Adua.When late Mr. Umaru Musa Yar'Adua
entered politics, he sided with his father, who was then the
vice-president of the NPN, and was a member of the opposition party,
Mr. Aminu Kano . NPN. When General Babangida played the part of the
politicalparty he became the secretary of the SDP in Katsina and its
candidate for governor, but NRC candidate for the time, Mr. Saidu
Barda.
In 1999, however, Malam Umaru Yar'Adua contested for the Katsina
state governor's seat and won the PDP, and won it again in 2003.In
2007, Umaru Musa Yar'Adua became the presidential candidate of the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after he assisted former President
Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on May 29, 2007.But the illness of the
former president has left him unable to hold office as he hopes his
seven budgets will move forward by 2020.The late Mallam Umaru Musa
Yar'Adua died on May 5, 2010, in the capital Abuja, two months after
returning home from Saudi Arabia .He is also survived by his mother,
brothers and a wife Hajj Europe along with his seven children,
including five wives and two sons. He also has two sons and his
second wife Hajia Ha Umar Radda.
